Install SessionPod on macOS

This guide helps you install and set up SessionPod on macOS (Mac). Whether your Mac uses an Intel chip or Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4), SessionPod provides native hardware support.

System requirements

• Operating system: macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later
• Processor: Intel chip or Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4)
• Memory: 4 GB RAM or more
• Disk space: At least 200 MB

Installation steps

Step 1: Choose your hardware architecture and download

Visit the official SessionPod download page and choose the version that matches your Mac processor:

• Apple Silicon version (M series): For Macs with M1, M2, M3, M4, or later chips.
• Intel Chip version: For earlier Macs with Intel processors.

If you are not sure which chip your Mac uses, click the Apple icon  in the top-left corner of the screen, then choose About This Mac.

Step 2: Install the app by dragging it

1. After the download is complete, double-click the .dmg image file, such as SessionPod-3.5.3-arm64.dmg.
2. In the window that opens, drag the SessionPod icon into the Applications folder.
3. Wait for the copy to finish, then safely eject the DMG disk image.

Step 3: Launch for the first time and grant permission

1. Open Launchpad, or go to the Applications folder in Finder.
2. Double-click the SessionPod icon to launch the app.
3. Security notice: The first time you open it, macOS may show a message saying "SessionPod is an app downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?" Click Open.

App data directory

On macOS, the default app data directory is /Users/<your_username>/SessionPodData.

The data directory stores browser-generated data, such as loaded images, videos, cookies, browsing history, and other browser data. If you create many browser profiles, this data may take up a large amount of disk space. We recommend choosing a disk with plenty of free space as the data directory. A removable drive is not recommended.
